New Course Highlights
*jQuery: Enhancing Web Development*
jQuery is a popular JavaScript library that simplifies web page manipulating and creation, event handling, animating, and Ajax interactions for rapid web development.
Many companies are using jQuery including: Amazon, Google, Twitter, Bank of America, BBC, ESPN, CBS News, Digg, Reuters, IBM, Netflix, Dell, Oracle, and many more.
Even casual web designers, who create web pages for fun, want to add the latest cool effects to their sites, and jQuery–the fast, flexible JavaScript library–is a tool of choice. Just as CSS separates “display” characteristics from the HTML structure, jQuery separates the “behavior” characteristics from the HTML structure.
This course will show you step-by-step how to make the most out your existing web pages using jQuery.

*Adobe Lightroom 2: Organize – Edit – Share!*
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2’s superior organizing tools make it a snap to get your photo collection under control, and you can edit photos using powerful tools like the Clarity tool, set white balance, edit exposure using the Tone Curve, and crop. You can even fix blemishes with the Spot Removal Tool and remove red eye, and use the Adjustment Brush to brush on corrections only where they are needed…all this without leaving Lightroom! You can even send photos to Photoshop or Elements for further work.
Lightroom lets you save custom settings as presets so you can apply the same settings to other photos in a snap, and supports plugins to send photos to online sites like Flickr. You can share photos with online galleries and prints. This six week course will have you organized and sharing your photos in no time!

*Photoshop 3D*
When Adobe released Photoshop CS3’s Extended version that allowed you to work with 3D models, it turned out to be a less than stellar addition to this program. It was difficult to access the tools and nothing about it was intuitive.
When they released the CS4 Extended version , they totally reworked the 3D portion of the program. As unusable and confusing as the CS3 version was, that’s how totally different the new CS4 version is. You can do so many things, including creating basic models, painting them, adding textures, adding and manipulating lights and cameras…and the list goes on.
Why did Adobe add this feature? Photoshop has always been the leader in implementing tools that fueled an artist’s creativity. Many folks believe that this addition is the next logical step in the evolution of digital design tools. Doesn’t it make sense then, thinking of it in those terms, to expand Photoshop to include this art form, since more and more people are getting involved in the 3D world? It sure does.
Per Corey Barker, National Association of Photoshop Professionals, Photoshop User CS4 Bonus Issue:
Will mastering these new 3D features make you an expert in 3D? No, but what it will do is make you more familiar with 3D in general and perhaps make learning a dedicated 3D application a little less frustrating. But what you will have is a new weapon in your design arsenal. With these few but robust 3D tools, you can create really compelling 3D art with just a little bit of practice.
This online class is geared for anyone interested in 3D and who wants to learn how to use the 3D tools in Photoshop. This course will introduce you to the basics of 3D and how to use the tools that Photoshop CS4 Extended offers.

*Photoshop Special FX*
Join me for tricks and special effects using Adobe Photoshop! We will talk about layer styles and how to create and save your own styles, and adding Actions to automate the program. We will also learn some tricks for composites and collages, text effects, and more.
Photoshop includes a folder of Goodies on the CD, and some of them are worth your time installing to the program so they are always available. There are some things here that are well worth taking the extra time to copy to the Photoshop folders. We will look at some filters on the CD that are not installed when you install Photoshop 7, CS, CS2, and CS3 by default. These filters will be used in the lessons.

*Photoshop Elements: Learn to Love Layers*
Layers are one of the most important skills you can learn in Photoshop Elements! Their understanding is essential in using the program successfully, yet they are often one of the hardest concepts for users to grasp. This class will get you going with layers: you will learn to use the layers palette, what it means to merge layers, and how to make new layers, as well as the difference between a background and layer. We will learn about transparent gifs and pngs, and how to make a simple animation using layers and PSE. You will learn to use layer masks and make collages and great Out of Bounds (OOB) effects that will have people asking you how you did that! *PSE: Photo Retouching and Restoration*

They have cracks, they’re faded, they have mildew…in this six week course in photo restoration you will learn to fix all that and more, as well as get scanning tips for textured photos and learn to work with delicate tintypes. Join me to explore using new and old tools to learn to fix damaged photos and make them look their best. This class will get your started on your restoration journey!

*Photoshop Elements: Pizzazz*
With so many third party filters available for Photoshop Elements, people tend to forget about the ones native to the software. Native filters are the ones you will find under the Filters menu. These filters can produce some dramatic effects whether used alone or combined with others, how to use these filters is the focus of this course.. One more problem is often these filters aren’t very intuitive, so even if you have noticed them, or even experimented with them, you may not know what the sliders and settings mean, or when you might want to use a particular effect. Over the six weekly lessons, we will cover quite a few of these filters to enhance photographs, create paintings and make your text stand off the page. I believe in learning by doing so we’ll be creating images as we go to learn more about these filters. Lessons will include making paintings from filters, beveling text and adding texture to photographs using the Lighting Effects filter, using the Texturizer and Displace filter, using the 3D Transform Filter, and much more.

*Photoshop Elements: Using the Organizer*
The goal of this class is to unravel some of the mystery surrounding the Organizer and relieving some of the apprehension people feel about letting it handle their photo collection. The Organizer that was introduced in Elements 3 was just the beginning of the powerhouse addition to This class is all new for Photoshop Elements we see now in Elements 6 and up.
The Organizer is more than a way to organize your photos; it is almost a program in itself, working alongside the Elements Editor providing features that were handled by the Editor in older versions of Elements, such as creating photo layouts, contact sheets, batch processing, PDF Slideshows, and HTML Web Galleries. The Organizer doesn’t stop with taking over many of the tasks that used to be taken care of in the Editor; it goes much further, adding DVD and CD labels and jackets, HTML email, creating professionally printed photo books, ordering prints of your photos online, and much more. For all its ease of use, as well as its power and abilities, the Organizer is one of the most misunderstood pieces of software Adobe ever created. Hopefully at the end of this six weeks, the Organizer will no longer be a mystery to you and you’ll feel confident using it in your workflow as you edit your photos and make unique photo creations!
This class covers the organizational aspects of the Organizer only. You will learn to import and catalog your photos, using tags, and albums as well as version sets and stacks. You will learn the different viewing methods and how to set properties and ratings for your photos. You will learn to understand and set Organizer preferences, and how to manage your photo and media collection with ease, even if it is huge!

*Twitter for Business and Pleasure*
What is all the buzz about Twitter? Once perceived as simply a toy of the self absorbed, Twitter has evolved into a powerful news, networking and promotional tool. Millions of people world-wide use twitter to share news, information, pictures, video, events, and more. Yes, there are a fair number of celebrities making fools out of themselves on Twitter and others that tweet about the cute guy they saw at the mall, but Twitter is also a powerful means of getting things done online. I can’t even begin to count how many times Twitter has helped plan meals, choose restaurants, deal with air travel, find items and gotten me great deals on the things I want and need. Twitter has become a powerful customer service tool allowing businesses to quickly address problems and provide solutions. Twitter is undeniably a source to be reckoned with when it comes to the news, the Hudson River plane crash was first reported on Twitter.
This course is designed to help you separate the hype from the substance of Twitter so you can utilize its power effectively. It doesn’t matter if you have never heard of Twitter before or if you have a 6 month old twitter account that you don’t quite know what to do with.
