XHTML & SSI Class

February 8th, 2008 Vikki Long

XHTML is the successor to HTML. Reformulated in XML, XHTML adheres to XML’s more strict validity rules. XHTML operates as well as or better than HTML 4 in current browsers and as time goes by some aspects of HTML will become obsolete. XHTML encourages a more structured and conceptual way of thinking about page content and, combined with style sheets, a more creative way of displaying it. To stay current with today’s changing web page code development, sign up for this course today.

This class does not teach basic web page coding, so is not suited to students who are not familiar with HTML. It teaches you how to transition your code from HTML to XHTML.

We’ll also learn how to use Server Side Includes (SSI). SSI allows you to make a change in one place and have those changes reflected on many pages. Your site must be hosted on a server that is capable of rendering .shtml documents.

You can test your host for SSI compatibility by downloading this zip file and following the instructions in the Readme.txt. If you have further questions, please contact Vikki.
