Browsing Corel® Painter[TM] X

Hey, Hey, Hey, Registration opens today!

August2

Today is the opening day of registration for the Fall session at LVS Online.  Remember, not only does the early bird get the worm, but the early bird also gets his or her choice of classes. Don’t be left and and on a waiting list. Register now!

If you’re a moderate to advanced Painter user, you can register for my new class, Corel Painter Explorations: Adventures in Scrap Collage, here. If you’re just learning to use Painter, then try the class for beginners, here. You’ll learn a lot and have fun doing so. Read what other students have said here.

Hope to see you there!

Painter Essentials 4 vs Corel Painter

January1

The other day I received an email from a potential student asking if she could use Painter Essentials 4 to do the Painter Level I and II lessons at LVS. Unfortunately, I had to tell her that wasn’t possible. For those of you who have PE3 or PE 4 and were wondering the same thing, this is the information I sent to the student:

***********************************************************

Hello XXXXX,

No, I’m afraid you cannot follow the Intro to Painter classes using Painter Essentials. The class is written for the full version of Painter, and the majority of the lesson material simply would not apply. The lessons refer to Painter IX.5, Painter X, or Painter 11.

Here is the current description of the Intro to Painter class:

Intro to Painter Level I

Painter Essentials is an extremely “light” version of the full program. Corel sells it for the sole purpose of whetting your appetite so you will upgrade to it’s big brother. However, there are a few tutorials available online and also some u-tube videos. Here are some links for you:

PE4 – Photopainting

PE4-Training and Tutorials

Note: the above video was created by Rob MacDonald, the Corel Product manager. In the video, he explains how to use the Painter Essentials 4 guidebook and the included tutorials.

…and finally, a link to a drawing tutorial, in which the author uses PE4 to draw a rose:

I hope you find the above information to be helpful, and should you ever decide to buy the full program, please consider signing up for the Painter classes I teach at LVS. I think you will find them to be very useful.

Classes begin this Saturday!

August23

Believe it or not, the Fall session at LVS is upon us. Classes begin this coming Saturday, August 29, 2009! For those of you who have just purchased the latest version of Corel Painter, Corel® Painter[TM] 11, you’ll be happy to know that all the lessons for the Painter classes have been revised to include this version.

If you were thinking of enrolling in class for this session, note that registrations are still being accepted, and that registration will remain open until Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Don’t wait until the last minute though…you know how that usually works… ;)

The Fall Session is almost here!

July27

Registration for the Fall session at LVS is open. Both the Painter Level I class and the Painter Level II class are newly revised and amended and now include Corel® Painter[TM] 11, Corel’s newest version of your favorite program.

For those of you who have earlier versions of the program, in Level I, there are a few items which only pertain to Painter X and Painter 11, but I’ve identified each of them. Everything else in the lesson also applies to Painter IX.5. All of the material in Level  II is also applicable to both Painter IX.5, as well as Painter X.

Level II is a continuation of the subjects covered in Level I with some very interesting additions.  Registration for both classes is limited, so I suggest you don’t put it off until the last minute to avoid disappointment.
