Grief

Recently, my sister in law finished her battle with cancer. She was such a beautiful person. Her battle hit all who knew and loved her with how precious time truly is.
We are in the grieving process and it is more difficult when you watch your kids go through that process. Has anyone here had an experience with this and how did you cope/deal with it?

Ways to relax

I’ve had a long day.  A full day at work.  Home with the kids.  Cleaning up after dinner.  Doing a few quick household chores.  Now, I am sitting here, surfing online, while I listen to the kids in their rooms.

It seems more and more of a challenge for me to find ways to relax-ways that won’t be incredibly time consuming.  I find that by taking a few minutes to just let my mind go blank, it really helps me physically as well as mentally.  Here are a few things that work for me.  Please feel free to post ideas of your own.

1. Deep breathing.

2. Taking a short walk.  This is something that I don’t do nearly often enough.  Actually I do it very rarely but do enjoy it when I take the time.

3. A short power nap.

4. Taking a warm bath.

5. Chatting with an old friend.

Now what ways do you find work for you?

So stuffy….

Oh my.  I am just so stuffy today.  I am sure it’s allergy related but it still doesn’t help me feel better.  I am taking my medications, like a good patient, lol.  I’m drinking a lot of hot tea to help and making sure I get plenty of fluids.  It seems like warm compresses help me too so I’ve been doing that off an on as well.

I have thought about trying the nasal irrigation and have tried it a few times but haven’t really had a lot of success with that.  I have when I wen tto the doctor’s and had it performed but the ones I’ve tried at home haven’t really worked.

Dental health…

Recently my eight year old had a horrible battle with a tooth. Thankfully, we were able to get the tooth removed after many visits with various dentists and finally found a fabulous oral surgeon who removed the tooth, cleaned the area, and put her out. We were thrilled to have found him!
Because of our recent dental experience, I am even more adamant about the kids practicing excellent dental hygiene. Here are a few things I have found to be helpful in our house…
1. Use a timer. This ensures the kids are brushing their teeth for the correct amount of time.
2. Use the dental flossers that have handles. My kids seem to really use these a lot more.
3. Electric toothbrushes. It seems they are more eager to brush when they have an electric toothbrush.

So do you have any tips to share?
