Thermometers, tissues, bleach, and alcohol
You may be wondering WHAT in the world all of these things are doing in my title. Well, this is what I have been surrounding myself with for at least the past 24 hours. With the flu being around my house, I have been going non stop. I am just really hoping that I somehow manage to avoid the dreaded flu this season. The kids have really been going through a rough time but hopefully they are on the mend.

The flu…Ugh
I am very sad to report that the flu is at my house. Ugh. I am trying to make sure that the we don’t spread it around and also that he makes a speedy recovery.
What about you? Has your household been touched by the flu this season?

I am tired…
Tonight I am wiped out. It has been a very LONG day. I completed a patient assessment, did some paperwork, took the kids shopping AGAIN for more food supplies and clothing. And then there was a very long, muggy, humid soccer practice that I ran a bit longer than I had intended. Thankfully, we are done. I am done. Whew. Tomorrow we start back into somewhat of a schedule. Well, it’s as much of a schedule as one can have with three kids, sports, friends, activities, and life in general. So for tonight, I plan to take a long shower, soak my tired feet, and have a nice cup of decaf tea.

Kids returning back to school
It’s that time of year that we moms love…the start of another school season. Woo hoo! I have been busy buying folders, with and without prongs, glue sticks, pencils, and boxed of Kleenxes. It’s amazing how large the supply list has become. It seems like a never ending shopping trip.
Do you buy a lot of school supplies? Or does your school supply everything for an additional fee? At our school, we pay a school fee, $60-$100 per child, as well as purchase a large list of needed items.
What about your schools? I’d love to know.

Have you ever left a doctor’s appointment and had NO idea what he/she just said? Have you tried to read your prescription for how often you are to take a medication and still remained clueless? If you are like most patients, you have. If you would like to be able to understand medical terminology, or the language of medicine, you are in the right class.

Keeping it together…
I coach our youngest daughter’s soccer team. My husband coaches our oldest daughter’s team. Our son is on the varsity boys team. So you could say that we are soccer crazy this time of year
To help keep our sanity levels as near normal as possible, I have come up with a few tips and suggestions. I find that being organized really helps keep my stress level down….well…..as down as it possibly can be with three kids!
1. Organize. This sounds simple, right? Well for me, it isn’t. It’s something I am always working on. And it’s not just me. It’s the kids too. Make sure they understand the importance of organization and how it helps with everything in life.
2. Have a routine, such as bed time, meals, etc. This will help cut down on the chaos.
3. Involve your family in daily activities. I have found that my kids actually seem to appreciate things more when they are involved in helping. I have certain chores/tasks that each one of our kids completes each week. Now, if it’s not done. They loose privileges. To me, it’s like life. We have to earn what we have.
Do you have any tips or ideas you’d like to add? Remember, you’re welcome to post your ideas here

Keeping our children healthy…
I am a mom of three pretty active kids. They are all healthy, thankfully. But it seems that I am constantly struggle with some of their food choices. With all of the extra activities, on the go sports, and life in general, it is all too easy to just grab something that is unhealthy and full of fat and sugar.
I am working on keeping healthier snacks that are not only tasty but easy to transport. Here are a few that work for my family. And if you have any that you’d like to add…I’d love to hear them
- Apples
- String cheese
- Small yogurt containers or the drinkable yogurt
- Grapes
- Bananas
- Plums
- Dried fruit…the kids really seem like these
- Raisins
- Whole wheat crackers with peanut butter
- Nuts
- Granola
These are just a few of the healthier choices….do you have any suggestions?
