The Weekend…

Well, the weekend is almost over. It has been a great time to relax and just catch up, physically as well as emotionally. Do you think that we as a society tend to push ourselves too much and not take any down time and relax and let our minds just rest?
I know that for me, this is something I work on all the time. I have found a few ways to help, such as walking, playing the piano, reading, and meditating.
Do you meditate? Have you found it helpful? How long do you usually spend?

Do you have an interest in the medical field?

If you have an interest in the medical field, there is a class just for you!  It’s an LVS class, Understanding Medical Terminology.  I love helping others learn how to understand medical terms and medical abbreviations.  I have often had students tell me how fabulous it is to be able to read and understand their prescriptions and/or their medical condition!  That is a fabulous feeling for me—as an instructor and as an RN.  For me, you can never had too much information and/or knowledge.

You can sign up for the class here. I look forward to chatting with you soon!

H1N1–Swine Flu—Has this affected your community?

I am sure that we all are reading the stories and watching the news stories about this strand of flu, the swine flu/H1N1.
Have you experienced this flu in your community? If you have, how is your community dealing with this?
Here are a few simple tips to help with prevention.
**Handwashing. I know how simple this sounds but handwashing is still the NUMBER ONE method of prevention. So lather up!
**Keep hand sanitizer in your pocket and/or car. It’s a great way to hard ward off germs.
**Cough and sneeze in a tissue or in your elbow. Remind children of this very important habit.
**Stay home if you or keep your children home if having flu symptoms (headaches, fever, body aches, coughing, sneezing).

Let’s all stay healthy! I look forward to reading your experiences with this and how you feel about this strain of the flu.
