Ways to relax

I’ve had a long day.  A full day at work.  Home with the kids.  Cleaning up after dinner.  Doing a few quick household chores.  Now, I am sitting here, surfing online, while I listen to the kids in their rooms.

It seems more and more of a challenge for me to find ways to relax-ways that won’t be incredibly time consuming.  I find that by taking a few minutes to just let my mind go blank, it really helps me physically as well as mentally.  Here are a few things that work for me.  Please feel free to post ideas of your own.

1. Deep breathing.

2. Taking a short walk.  This is something that I don’t do nearly often enough.  Actually I do it very rarely but do enjoy it when I take the time.

3. A short power nap.

4. Taking a warm bath.

5. Chatting with an old friend.

Now what ways do you find work for you?

Down time

Down time. Relaxation. Taking a mental break. Are these familiar to you or something that you only dream of doing?
If you are like the rest of us, you probably multi task more often than you don’t. I know that I am one who is guilty of this habit.
There are many benefits to relaxing. Here are just a few….
1. Decrease your blood pressure.
2. Lower your stress level.
3. Improve your mental outlook, your “thinking process”.
4. Improved sleep.
5. A calmer you

Again, these are just a few of the times when you need to scrub up. Remember to wash your hands by using soap and rubbing your hands together for at least 20 seconds. Usually this is how long it takes to sing the song “Happy Birthday” to yourself.

Handwashing…

Handwashing. It’s one of the most important things that you can do. So simple yet it’s something that I see so many adults fail to do. Remember to wash your hands with the following.
1. When using the restroom. Again, you would think this is something that would be automatically done but I can not count the number of times I leave a bathroom amazed at the adults who I watched leave without visiting the soap and water. Yuck!
2. Before eating. This will help prevent introducing germs, viruses, and bacteria into your body.
3. When sneezing. Common sense, right?
4. After caring for pets.
5. When they are visibly dirty.
6. Before cooking.
7. After taking out the trash or doing other household tasks.
8. Before and after taking care of a scrape or cut.

Again, these are just a few of the times when you need to scrub up. Remember to wash your hands by using soap and rubbing your hands together for at least 20 seconds. Usually this is how long it takes to sing the song “Happy Birthday” to yourself.

Kids, Doctor Visits, and Medical Terminology

As a mom of three active and busy kids, I can see a need for having an understanding of medical terminology. With all of their doctor trips, visits to the pharmacies, and multiple dental appointments, it can be a very valuable piece of knowledge to have.
If you have an interest in the medical field or are a mom, like me, who feels it would be helpful to understand more during their children and families health care visits, then here is a class for you.
