What is the Joomla! Fast Track Training Course at LVS Online?
We’re open for Registration!
click here to register for the may 2010 online joomla! training course
the virtual classroom opens May 10th
First Lesson posted May 15th
From a basic install of the Joomla! Content Management System, with hosting provided by LVS Associates for this class, you will build an example site for the new (and imaginary!) LVS Online Garden Center. We have the Client’s brief, the images and dummy content and this course will take you through the development, step-by-step, from beginning to completion.
It isn’t a manual, it isn’t a series of unrelated ‘how tos’ – it is a complete site build for you to wrap up and take away at the end of the course and adapt for your own use. You don’t need any books or software for this class – it is a specially written course for LVS Online with original material.
The best way to learn is by ‘doing’ and with the Joomla! Fast Track Course at LVS Online it will be like having your own personal tutor guiding you. Comprehensive Course Notes are provided with each lesson and the Instructor is available in the Joomla Class Online Virtual Classroom at LVS Online for help and assistance during the class.
Course Cost $30US for new students $24US for returning students
WARNING! Once you have found LVS Online Classes there is no available cure for LVSELA (LVS eLearning Addiction).

Oh man, now I want to take this class so bad! So many classes, so little time
I wonder if I could handle taking 3 this session (along with assisting in 3)? *groan*
I vouch for the addiction part, my page with all my LVS lessons on it is getting pretty long!

Three classes [gasp] – heavens! The Joomla! class has quite a lot to do each week – we have picky Clients! But it would be great to see you there at some point – thank you Anita.

Hi! I registered for this class..probably one of the first..I stayed up until 12am to register because I understand this class gets full quick, along with all the other classes.
I have a website that was already built for me using joomla 1.0, will I be able to upload the new version for my site? I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN WEB DESIGNING, let alone the lingo. I do not want to loose any of hte contents that I already have on my site. Again, I have no experience. Will this class help?

Hello Taniab
Well done for registering! The course uses 1.5.10 and is designed for coders and non-coders. What it would teach you is to make your own site in a logical manner and how to use various extensions to make your life easier… What you seem to mean is that you want to ‘migrate’ your existing Joomla! 1x site to Joomla! 1.5x – something everyone should be doing soon. This migration is not covered in the Fast Track Course. In fact migration is not that easy but there is a tool to help you:
http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1.0.x_to_1.5_Stable
Look forward to seeing you in class

Sorry, one more question. How do I make a back up file of all the things I have in the old joomla and put it towards the new one?

I am very new to web design and am wanting to design a site that will allow me to sell prints of my photographs. Is this something that I can do with Joomla!? Is this something that I would benefit by taking this class? Thanks.

I was laughing at your comment about the addiction…and I was pretty sure there was no cure. However, I haven’t searched for one to be honest, so that’s where it is. Looking forward to this class in hopes you can unscramble my thinking to work with the program and not against it;O)
