Twitter Course

Twitter for Business and Pleasure

Twitter is a powerful micro-blogging platform. The posts on Twitter are limited to 140 characters whereas traditional blogging platforms allow you to write as much as you want. Although it is a microblog, it used extensively for social networking. It can be used as business networking tool, a toy, news outlet or entertainment. With some planning and learning some 3rd party tools, you can craft Twitter to be an effective and efficient communication and business tool.

Here is what one of my former students says about his Twitter experience.

I mentioned in my intro at the beginning of this course that I was coming into it through the skeptic door (very strong skepticism).

Starting with lesson one, my eyes began to open; about mid-course I became a believer; I check Twitter throughout the day for “champlain bridge” a local disaster here for news as you mentioned following a killer hunt in Seattle area. I’m developing Followings and Followers on that subject and my Adobe Photoshop addiction. I’m retired and have no business to promote, but have learned enough to begin promoting some community organizations I volunteer with.

I just might buy a Twitter T-shirt yet.

Thanks for the course and help.

I keep two Twitter accounts to help me meet my objectives. I have my general Twitter account that focuses on my geek and art interests. I use that account for local business and my role as an instructor. My second Twitter account, @WineBeerWA, is more focused and it is closely tied to my Wine-Beer-Washington blog and my wine studies. Although it is more focused, it is actually more popular and busier than my general @beanfair account. These Twitter accounts demonstrate two very different ways of using Twitter, designed to meet different goals.
