If you have taken any of of my online blogging classes, you have hear me talking about some of the amazing blog innovators that will be at SOBCon 09. Successful Outstanding Bloggers Convention (SOBCon 09), is Biz School for Bloggers and will be held May 1-3, 2009 in Chicago.
But in true Liz Strauss style, the speakers, as awesome as they are, are not what makes this business blogging conference such a wonderful opportunity. What makes it so special is that this blogging conference is all about communication and implementation. This is not a conference where you are expected to absorb all of this information in a lecture hall and then try to apply it on your own at home. After presentations, participants will work together in creating strategies and action plans for their own businesses as well as the sponsors.
I am really excited about how this conference is set up. It mirrors my own philosophies about teaching and learning. In my online classes, I try to provide students the opportunity to practice the content of the lessons and encourage participation in the class message boards. I want to be able to attend SOBCon 09 so I can learn there, practice there, implement there and then bring the new knowledge back here and share it with my students.
I have some obstacles in my path to SOBCon 09 and I have spent a lot of time debating whether those obstacles are surmountable. I even asked about SOBCon 09 as an exercise on my student’s I Ching blog! I have talked to a couple of the speakers who agree that it will be challenging, but not impossible for me to participate. Some of my students have expressed their support in my attending SOBCon, so I decided to make my intent to attend official. I am now actively seeking solutions to making it happen, including sponsors. I am asking my students to consider if they want to invest in that knowledge and help send me to SOBCon 09. If you want to make that investment, you can can chip in here!

Best $5 spent in a long time. Good luck Bean, hope you make it!
Thanks Kat!
I think it is a great opportunity. I am really looking forward to the possibilities!
GO Woman GO!!!! oxox
I’m in, Bean — glad you made the decision to go. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is trite but true. You’re going for all of us.
Watch out for the dog-petters.
Woohoo! thank you!
erm…I support the notion, but, and I may just be dense enough to not ‘get it’, how? I didn’t find a link or instructions for payment. I think that instructors should have every opportunity to stay as leading edge as possible…Go Bean!!!

Now if someone would be so kind as to tell me, slowly and distinctly into the ‘good’ side of my brain, how to contribute? *Big Grin*
Thank you
Pete,
You can contribute by clicking on the orange Chip in button that appears in the post or in the sidebar.
Thank you so much!
Aha! The Chip-in buttons are not presented by Firefox version 3.b5, prbably a settings thing. I’ve opened IE (Ick) and succeeded, thank you.
Cheers!
pete
Thanks Pete, I will look into that and see if I can see where the problem lies.
Bean, I sent what I could – wish it could be more. As Barb said, you are going for all of us. My move status in the middle of hell part and co$t$ too. I’m hoping I will be read for the next session and LOL I haven’t finished this one.
Adele,
Every little bit helps, a lot! I am excited about the possibilities and I am excited about what I can share with you all when I get back
Bean,
Is this trip for fun, fame, or fortune? *big grin*
I’ll be happy to help out as long as you stay put long enough for me to take the basic blog class in March. (:
I only wish that I had people in Chicago that could make you feel at home there.
And, however this goes, I’ll be proud of you for following your dreams.
Bonnie
Well I might end up teaching the blogging basics class from Colorado, but don’t worry it will happen!
I am looking forward to having you in it
Go, Bean, Yea!!!
Ellen
Thanks so much Ellen!
