Do you believe in extraterrestrial life? If you have any interest in astronomy or the possibility of the existence of extraterrestrial life, this NEW online class is for you!
The instructor, Josephine, shares a lifelong interest in science with her husband (a geologist) and is particularly drawn to astronomy and cosmology. She has studied extensively in astronomical and astrophysics journals and wants to share this exciting topic by teaching at LVS Online Classes.
Astronomy Introduction is a descriptive class (no math required) on astronomy covering the history of astronomy, observational astronomy, and composition of our solar system, galaxy, and universe.
First, Josephine teaches the history of astronomy and how to view objects in the night sky. Next, she teaches about the formation and evolution of our solar system, including the composition and positions of the planets, moons, and the Sun. She also teaches about stars, including their evolution and life cycle, properties and the formation of black holes. She then moves into galaxies and will explore our own galaxy including the galaxies nearest to our own, progressing onto classifications of galaxies and interstellar medium.
The universe as a whole will be examined by discussing the origins, expansion, theories of everything, and its fate. Josephine ends the class with discussion on the possibility of extraterrestrial life and what scientists are currently doing to search for life elsewhere.
Registration is open now – come join us in this very interesting and fun Astronomy class!
